The Department of Earth and Environmental … The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Minnesota Duluth invites applications for two full-time term faculty appointments due to recent retirements to begin August 22, 2022 and end May 21, 2023. We seek two broad-based earth scientists who will teach courses that help fill our curricular needs. Each of these candidates would teach 2-3 classes/semester during the academic year from among an introductory-level course on Geology and Earth Systems, Earth History, Structural Geology, Economic Geology, Data Science, GIS, and advanced electives that broaden our environmental science and geology curricula. We welcome candidates who seek to incorporate elements of environmental justice into their courses. Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is preferred and requires the completion of a PhD; however, applicants with appropriate qualifications who are still ABD may be considered for an Instructor position.</br></br></br>Required qualifications for the position are: 1) completion of a Ph.D. or ABD status in earth science or related field by August 22, 2022, from a regionally-accredited university or equivalent program; 2) experience in teaching, which may include teaching assistantships. Preferred qualifications are: 1) Ph.D. in earth science or related field, 2) at least one semester teaching college courses as lead instructor, 3) experience with course development, 4) experience in integrating themes of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice in teaching.</br></br>Duluth is a vibrant small city with exceptional outdoor, recreational and cultural opportunities. We offer BA and BS degrees in Geological Sciences and Environmental Science and an MS in Earth Sciences.
