Our lab in the Department of Civil and EnvOur lab in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Waterloo is looking for postdoctoral researcher to work on the development, testing, and application of machine learning (ML) models for hydrogeological prediction. The position is available for one year with a possible extension depending on performance and available funding.</br></br></br>Specific details about the project will be discussed with candidates short-listed for an interview. Skills and experience sought for the position includes:</br>* Strong familiarity and demonstrated experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras and other similar libraries</br>* Previous experience with common deep learning architectures (LSTM, Transformers, CNN) and decision trees (XGBoost, LightGBM, CatBoost, Random Forests)</br>* Permafrost hydrogeology</br>* Previous experience working on clusters and high-performance computing</br>* Probabilistic methods</br>* Physics-informed machine learning (ideal, but not necessary)</br>* Qualifications include a PhD in either civil engineering, environmental engineering, water resources engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a related field.</br></br>We are looking to fill the position immediately; thus, preference will be given to qualified Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents.</br></br>If interested, please send your CV and cover letter to John Quilty.
