The Department of Civil and Environmental … The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Michigan State University is seeking two PhDs students to work on hydrological (including irrigation, groundwater, and reservoirs), agricultural (including nutrient flow), and flood modeling at global and regional scales. The student will receive competitive stipend, tuition support, and health benefits. The projects involve process-based hydrological modeling using climate model data and close interactions with regional stakeholders. The students will be supervised by Prof. Yadu Pokhrel.</br></br></br>Required qualifications:</br>* undergraduate in Civil and Environmental Engineering or a closely related (preferably Engineering) field;</br>* masters in hydrology, water resources, atmospheric science, Earth and environmental science, or a related field; and</br>* strong interest and some background in mathematical/computer modeling; and</br>* GRE (for all) and TOEFL/IELTS (for international students).</br></br>Preferred qualification:</br>* Strong background in hydrology and computational modeling;</br>* prior experience with Python, Fortran or similar programming languages; and</br>* Skills to handle big data</br></br>Enthusiastic and motivated students with the required background can apply through MSU’s graduate application system or email Dr. Amar Deep Tiwari (tiwaria6@msu.edu) with a complete CV (that includes overall GPA), GRE and TOEFL/IELTS scores, and copy of transcripts.
