In Austria, alpine catchments focusing on rural/torrential parts including the downstream connected urban areas are used as test cases. Therein, a mix of monitoring and modelling based approaches are to be applied, aiming to evaluate the impacts of nature based solutions implemented in the catchments. Working fields in the project include (a) realization of field experiments covering artificial rainfall/runoff test at the plot scale, (b) assessment of land use changes, (c) hydrological modelling on the catchment scale including the torrential and urban parts of the catchments. Duties in frame of the project are
* Covering the relevant aspect with regard to scientific approach set in the RECONECT Project
* Publication of outcomes in reports, scientific journals and presentation at project meetings and conferences
* Support in the project administration
* Travelling to project meetings, workshops and conferences
* We offer the possibility to conduct a PhD in Technical Science (admission is separate from this position - see https://www.uibk.ac.at/studium/anmeldung-zulassung/doktoratsstudium/)

'''Required qualifications:'''
* Master degree relating to the fields of Hydrology, Water and/or Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or any equivalent
* Knowledge in hydrology and / or urban water management or willingness to acquire
* high motivation, teamwork capabilities and communication skills (written and oral)
* excellent knowledge In English (German not mandatory)
* background in hydrological / hydraulic modelling
* programming skills (e.g. Matlab, Python, R), experience with GIS systems is advantageous

See attachment for more information.eous See attachment for more information. +
