I am looking for applicants for open PhD a … I am looking for applicants for open PhD and/or MS assistantships in Fall 2023 within the Department of Oceanography & Coastal Science at Louisiana State University (https://www.lsu.edu/cce/academics/graduate/docs/index.php).</br></br> </br>There are a few projects available funded by various entities including NSF, The US Army Corps of Engineers, and state funding in Louisiana:</br># Monitoring of hydrodynamics across a network of stations throughout nearshore Louisiana (looking at waves, currents, water levels, meteorology). The student would also be tasked with calibrating ADCP backscatter to sediment concentrations in some fun laboratory experiments. We also might do some modeling and investigation of coastal water level variability and the relationship to climate.</br># Investigating the flood risk reduction and eco-system co-benefits of natural and nature-based features in the Gulf Coast region. There are a number of possibilities here ranging from quantifying hydrology + water quality impacts, to morphodynamic analyses of nature-based features, to performing network/connectivity analyses of flooding control structures as part of a large, inter-disciplinary project. </br># Morpho- and hydrodynamic evolution of the Mississippi Birdsfoot delta.
