The Department of Civil and Environmental … The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a postdoctoral scholar specializing in glacier modeling. The project will collaborate with the National Park Service Inventory and Monitoring Program to integrate state-of-the-art remote sensing data to calibrate and validate a glacier evolution model to present a coherent picture of the evolution of glacier change in the Alaskan National Parks from 2000-2100. The ideal candidate would also be interested in remote sensing of mountain glaciers and be willing to work as part of a larger, interdisciplinary team comprising engineers and environmental scientists who are working on developing various capabilities of the Python Glacier Evolution Model (PyGEM). Candidates with backgrounds in engineering, earth science, computer science, or related fields are preferred, but all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.</br></br></br>The employee would be appointed by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering under the supervision of Dr. David Rounce. The position is available for one year of funding at $55k/yr in addition to health and retirement benefits.
