Dear all,<br> We are seeking a postdDear all,<br></br>We are seeking a postdoctoral scholar with an interest in the sustainability of coastal groundwater aquifers and substantial experience in groundwater system simulation and optimization. </br></br>The post is part of an EPSRC-NSF funded project “CBET-EPSRC: Efficient Surrogate Modelling for Sustainable Management of Complex Seawater Intrusion-Impacted Aquifers”. The project is a collaboration between the University of Sheffield (UK), the University of Texas at El Paso (US), and the University of South Florida (US), with technical support provided by the United States Geological Survey (USGS).</br></br></br>The successful candidate will lead efforts in developing efficient groundwater modeling simulation and optimization frameworks for modeling seawater intrusion in response to sea level rise. The postdoc will be based at the University Sheffield. Highly desired computational skills include substantial modeling experience with groundwater modeling (MODFLOW, MT3D, SEAWAT, etc.), programming languages (PYTHON, FORTRAN, etc.), simulation-optimization of groundwater systems, and machine learning methods.</br></br></br>This position is fixed-term until 31 March 2023 with the opportunity for a 1-year extension pending authorization from the funding body. It also includes an annual research and travel budget to support professional development.</br></br></br>The preferred start date is June 2021. The successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. in civil engineering, water sciences or other STEM related disciplines.
