The Tulane Sediment Dynamics and Stratigra … The Tulane Sediment Dynamics and Stratigraphy (TSDS) Lab is looking for a new PhD student to join our group. The PhD position is associated with a funded project that includes support for a student on a research assistantship for the vast majority of their degree. The project centers on quantifying sediment dynamics and resulting stratigraphy of coupled deltaic-submarine fan systems. Specifically, we are interested in how and when signals of environmental change in source regions influence surface dynamics of the submarine fans. The project will be centered on physical experiments in Tulane University’s deepwater basin, but also include analysis of 3D seismic data and numerical modeling.</br></br></br>The project is supported by the GoMed (Gulf of Mexico – Mediterranean) Consortium, a U.S. – Israel Energy Center recently funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and Israel’s Ministry of Energy.</br></br></br>As a member of the GoMed team, the PhD student will interact with colleagues at a number of U.S. and Israel institutes.
