Dear all:
We have fully funded PhD positi … Dear all:

We have fully funded PhD positions available at Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey, USA. The interest is in the three following topics:

* River and lake ice mapping using optical and microwave satellites. Strong knowledge in remote sensing and image processing is required in addition to excellent coding skills in Python.
* Assimilation of river ice information in flow routing schemes to enhance the forecast of river discharge in northern watersheds. Familiarity with river hydraulic models and flow routing especially in cold regions is preferable. Excellent coding skills in Python and/or experience with numerical models like WRF-HYDRO are required.
* Flood forecasting in urban watersheds using hyper resolution models in coastal regions. Experience with high resolution precipitation products like MRMS is needed. Experience in hydrological modeling in urban area using models like WRF-HYDRO is needed in addition to excellent coding skills. The goal is to work on the coupling of CONUS-wide models like the NWM with urban high resolution models to issue real time forecast of urban flooding.

Prospective students will work under the supervision of Dr. Marouane Temimi, Associate Professor in the Civil, Environmental, and Ocean Engineering Department at Stevens Institute of Technology.

Applicants should email their applications to Dr. Marouane Temimi: https://web.stevens.edu/facultyprofile/?id=2418

Applications should include a cover letter, the candidate’s resume, transcripts, 2 to 3 references, and copies of publications or examples of previous projects and achievements related to the topics.

Positions are available for Spring 2021 or Fall 2021 intake. Priority is given to US-based students for Spring 2021 intake.

Positions will remain open until filled.

Kind regards,

Dr. Marouane Temimi.
