Participants will engage intensely with a few behavioral models, reach a deeper understanding of various theories in the social science, and develop the ability to formalize more abstract notions in a specific programming language.</br></br>'''Content of Course'''<br></br>The winter school has two main components: 1) lectures and 2) project work. In addition, there is open space in the evening to allow participants to present their own work in speed talks. Lectures will introduce participants to different behavioral models and theories and how they have been implemented in natural resource management agent-based models. The participants will also be introduced to different stylized agent-based models (e.g., range land, irrigation, and fishery models). The participants will chose one of the stylized models and adapt, expand, and analyze the model to better understand the impact of a particular decision model on the overall outcome of the social-ecological system. The models are written in NetLogo. Therefore, participants must be able to read and write NetLogo programming code.able to read and write NetLogo programming code.  +
