The Critical Zone Geoscience Lab in the DeThe Critical Zone Geoscience Lab in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Connecticut is recruiting graduate students at the MS or Ph.D. level. The lab is led by Dr. Russell Callahan and research projects in the lab will focus on understanding connections between subsurface weathering, hydrology, ecosystems, and surface processes. Research methods will include measurements of subsurface weathering from geophysical surveys, excavations, and boreholes. Research projects may also employ methods including remote sensing, geochemical and isotopic measurements of field samples, and hydrological and ecological field measurements. </br></br>The Department of Earth Sciences at UConn and Dr. Callahan encourage applicants from underrepresented groups and strive to create a welcoming environment where diverse viewpoints and experiences can be shared in an inclusive environment.
