Fully funded MS position in microplastic transport in estuarine wetlands at UMCES
University of Maryland, Maryland, United States
Start reviewing process: 27 September 2021

I am recruiting a Master's Student (possibly to switch to a Ph.D. in the future) at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science, Horn Point Laboratory starting preferably in Spring 2022.

The student will work on a project funded by NOAA - Marine Debris program. The overarching goal is to develop a budget of plastic debris input and retention into wetlands in the Choptank River (MD) through field measurements and numerical modeling (Delft3D).

I am looking for a highly motivated student with a background in wetland morphodynamics, coastal geomorphology, or related fields. The candidate will have experience in numerical methods and programming (Matlab, Python, R). Applicants are encouraged to contact the PI of the project (William Nardin, wnardin@umces.edu) before applying and include a CV. The student will work in the field and lab closely with Dr. Jamie Pierson a Co-PI of the project.

The student will be enrolled in the Marine Estuarine Environmental Science Graduate Program at the University of Maryland. More info on the graduate program is available at the website: https://www.mees.umd.edu/curriculum

Best,
William
