Coastal Working Group

Modeling erosion, sediment and solute transport in nearshore environments like deltas, estuaries, bays and lagoons

Models

The Coastal community makes available a diverse set of 103 numerical models and tools, for you to use and explore! Find out which models are available or contribute your own model.

Jobs

Ready to make your next career move or eager to find a new colleague? Search here for new job opportunities or post an available position to the broader community.

Events

Stay up to date on the latest research or present your own numerical breakthroughs at one of the events listed for you. Or advertise your event to the broader coastal numerical community.

Best, Üwe S. N.; Legay, Alexandre; Reyns, Johan; van der Wegen, Mick; 2025. Morphodynamic adaptation timescales of the Guyana mangrove‐mudflat system: Are coastlines shaped by migrating mudbanks more resilient against sea level rise?. Earth Surface Processes and Landforms, 50. 10.1002/esp.70135.

Highlight: This study introduces the first process-based 1D bio-geomorphological model reproducing cyclic erosion–accretion of a mangrove–mudflat system under migrating mudbanks. It shows that mudbank cycles (≈30 yrs) are shorter than morphodynamic adaptation times, explaining system resilience to sea-level rise.
