National Science Foundation
Major funding for CSDMS comes from a cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation (NSF). This agreement award is made jointly between the NSF's Division of Earth Sciences (EAR) and Directorate for Geosciences (GEO), Award Abstract EAR-0621695 - Facility Support: Organizational Infrastructure for the Community Surface Dynamics Modeling System.
Government Partners
The following governmental departments and agencies have filed official letters of support for the CSDMS initiative and its mission. In addition to their collaboration with and support of CSDMS efforts on various levels - from financial support to in-kind support to collaborative research - these departments and agencies also offer partnership via the participation of representatives in the various committees and working groups operating within CSDMS.
- National Forest Service (NFS)
- National Park Service (NPS)
- National Weather Service (NWRFC)
- U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
Industry Partners
The following industrial partners have collaborated with and support CSDMS efforts on various levels - from financial support to in-kind support to collaborative research. These organizations also offer support via the participation of representatives in the various committees and working groups operating within CSDMS.
Additionally, CSDMS has begun work on an Industry Consortium, which will likely involve many of these industry partners. Read the CSDMS Industry Consortium document.
Universities, Educational Partners and Related Research Programs
As of today, CSDMS is proud to have 2454 members from 77 different countries (see also member distribution per country) to have representation on CSDMS's various working groups and committees. For specifics, refer to the membership listings for the CSDMS Working Groups. (Click on the respective working group, then on the "Members" tab on the resulting page).
Research Institutes and Other Partner Organizations
- Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science (CUAHSI)
- National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR)
- National Center for Earth-Surface Dynamics (NCED)
- NSF MARGINS
- International Arctic Science Committee (IASC)
- Land-Ocean Interactions in the Coastal Zone (LOICZ)
- Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR)
- Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research (INSTAAR)
