We are looking for outstanding motivated Post-Doctoral researchers to probe feedbacks between the deep and surface Earth
Possible research topics include (but are not limited to) the quantitative characterization of
- relationships between Plio-Pleistocene glacial-interglacial cycles and the continental and oceanic volcano-magmatic activity
- the contribution of volcano-magmatic changes due to major geodynamic events to the climate evolution at Cenozoic timescales
via analyses of global datasets, numerical/analytical modeling and any other appropriate technique.
Successful candidates will work in close cooperation with scientists from a range of disciplines. She/he has to be self-motivated and is encouraged to bring in their personal scientific interests and expertise into collaborative projects, especially if these are pertinent to geodynamics - climate interactions (at any timescales). She/he will be expected to produce works of publishable quality for appropriate high-impact peer reviewed journals, present papers at national and international conferences, develop outreach opportunities, and contribute to the development of collaborative research grants.
Training will be given at all stages and this is an exciting opportunity for scientists willing to develop/apply cutting edge numerical/analytical techniques for the study of fundamental physical and chemical aspects of the Earth System.
Duration: 2 years, renewable up to 4 years.
Required qualifications: PhD in Earth or computational sciences, physics, engineering or related field, ability to work independently under established deadlines and as a part of a team, strong interpersonal communication skills, ability to travel to partner and collaborator institutes, relevant conferences, etc. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications: peer-reviewed publications, demonstrated research experience in the Earth and Climate sciences (e.g., geodynamics, climate dynamics), and proficiency in more than one programming language (e.g., fortran, C/C++, Python, Matlab).
Ability to speak Italian is NOT a requirement for these positions.
