| Highlight text | This study introduces the first process-based 1D bio-geomorphological model reproducing cyclic erosion–accretion of a mangrove–mudflat system under migrating mudbanks. It shows that mudbank cycles (≈30 yrs) are shorter than morphodynamic adaptation times, explaining system resilience to sea-level rise.
