The project aims to develop the first AI-driven framework that incorporates multi-modal hydrological data and human impact data (building on a previously developed foundation AI model) to enhance the modelling of hydroclimatic compound hazards in the UK. A key objective is to improve our understanding of how human activities influence the dynamics of these compound hazards. This is a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with experts across disciplines. The PhD candidate will work at the forefront of AI and hydrology, gaining expertise in AI, Hydrological Science, Water Engineering, and Computer Science, and collaborating with partners in academia, government, and industry - particularly through BISCA’s networks.
Successful candidates will receive full coverage of home tuition fees and a UKRI-rate stipend (£20,780 for 2025/26), along with access to additional funding for training and development opportunities.
If interested, please apply by August 22! Any questions, you are very welcome to email Shasha at s.han.2@bham.ac.uk.
