PhD and Postdoc positions - Coastal Hydrology Lab The University of Alabama

The Coastal Hydrology Lab at The University of Alabama (https://www.ua.edu/) invites applications for a Postdoc and a PhD student position to start in January 2025 (earlier start dates in Fall 2024 are negotiable). The positions are fully funded by external grants from NSF, and NOAA, and the successful applicants will work with Dr. Hamed Moftakhari (https://hmoftakhari.people.ua.edu/).


Qualified applicants must have strong quantitative and analytical skills, hold a PhD (for the postdoc appointment) and a MSc (for the PhD position) in Civil, Environmental, or Coastal/Ocean Engineering (or related disciplines), and have strong written and oral communication of research results. Desired qualifications include experience in probabilistic modeling, development of machine learning algorithms and hydrodynamic modeling (e.g., DFLOW-FM, ADCIRC, SFINCS).
