which is supporting research in clean energy, climate science, water resources, and ecology and biosphere engineering. The fellowship is called the Pioneer Postdoctoral Fellowship,

and applications are due Oct. 11. Applicants must have a faculty host that is willing to make a financial commitment. This could be from any faculty member at Caltech.

The Resnick Institute is interested in supporting work in landscape sustainability. I am involved in a few new funded projects at Caltech on river-floodplain dynamics, mud and organic carbon transport, rivers in permafrost, and soil carbon, including geomorphology, and soil carbon geochemistry and microbial ecology. This work includes fieldwork in California and Alaska, and fluvial and hillslope morphodynamic modeling. Collaborators include Woodward Fischer (Caltech), Joshua West (USC), Christian Frankenberg (Caltech), Ruby Fu (Caltech), among others. In addition to this new Pioneer Fellowship, our department offers two annual postdoc fellowships (the Texaco and OK Earl, and the Foster and Coco Stanback) which are now posted. Applications for these are due Dec. 1. These do not require a faculty commitment prior to the application.
