The Lin Lab for Intelligent Nexus Systems of Water and Society (LINS Lab) investigates how environmental processes, infrastructure, technology, and human behavior interact to shape water availability, sustainability, and resilience. We work across scales, from basin-wide water systems to national data analysis, using computational modeling, decision analytics, data science, and systems thinking.
We are looking for curious, motivated, and technically strong students who want to push the boundaries of water research. Potential focus areas include:
- Water Resources Planning & Management Human–water systems modeling, agent-based modeling, multi-objective optimization, decision analytics, and AI-enabled decision support.
- Agricultural & Urban Water Use Science Irrigation adoption, water demand dynamics, remote sensing, machine learning, and risk propagation in food–water systems.
- Smart & Adaptive Water Systems Hydrological digital twins, control and reinforcement learning, cyber-physical resilience, and integrated watershed modeling.
Students will have the opportunity to co-develop new research directions as the lab grows.
Application review is currently ongoing.
If you are attending AGU 2025 (New Orleans), feel free to reach out, I am happy to meet prospective students and chat about research opportunities!
