The key physical parameters of the model aThe key physical parameters of the model are the aspect ratio deal with hydraulics (geometry of the river cross section, Shields number, grain size) and geomorphology (erodibility of the floodplain surface). The lengths are scaled by the cross section half width of the river, i.e. the lenghts are dimensionless. Thus any kind of river scenario may be potentially simulated.  +
The model might be unstable if the meander bends are too sharp and/or flow parameters are somehow borderline.  +
The model simulates the lateral migration of a meandering rivers, allowing the formation of oxbow lakes and scroll bars which may have a different erosional resistance with respect to the pristine floodplain.  +
The time scale is of the order of 10-1000 years, since the migration of meandering rivers is usually very slow, (e.g. 1 meter/year).  +

The model simulates the long-term evolution of meandering rivers above heterogeneous floodplain surfaces, i.e. floodplains that have been reworked by the river itself through the formation of oxbow lakes and point bars.  +
