One-line model description The glacial systems model (GSM)
Extended model description The GSM is a 3D glacial systems model that simulates ice sheet evolution over glacial-cycle timescales using a hybrid shallow-shelf/shallow-ice dynamical core with full thermo-mechanical coupling, resolved on a horizontal grid plus vertical layers for ice velocity and temperature. It uniquely integrates this ice dynamics with a wide range of bidirectionally coupled processes, including glacial isostatic adjustment, subglacial sediment transport, basal hydrology, surface drainage/lakes, and an internal energy-balance climate model, all under large-ensemble parametric uncertainty quantification.
