One-line model description DPFEHM is a differentiable Julia simulator for subsurface flow and transport, built for gradient-based inverse modeling and ML integration.
Extended model description DPFEHM is a differentiable Julia simulator for subsurface flow and transport (groundwater flow, Richards equation, advection-dispersion, and wave propagation) that supports automatic differentiation via Zygote for gradient-based inverse modeling and machine learning integration.

Describe input parameters grid geometry (coords, neighbors, areasoverlengths, volumes, built via functions like regulargrid2d/regulargrid3d), material/hydraulic properties (conductivity/permeability Ks or logKs, specific storage, van Genuchten parameters alphas and Ns for Richards equation), sources and sinks (Qs), and boundary conditions (dirichletnodes and dirichleths, the fixed-pressure/head nodes and their values).

Describe output parameters The solvers (e.g., groundwater_steadystate, richards_residuals) return arrays of the solved field values — head/pressure (h) at each grid node, or saturation/psi for Richards equation — plus, when using Zygote for automatic differentiation, gradient arrays of the same shape.
