From CSDMS
Recruiting new graduate students at Penn State
Pennsylvania State University, Pennsylvania, United States
Apply before: 15 December 2026

I am recruiting new graduate students to join our research group at Penn State, with positions starting fall 2027. Interested prospective students should reach out by email and include their CV, a short one-paragraph description of past research experience, and a short one-paragraph description of future research interests. Current funded graduate openings (RA) include projects on field, remote sensing, and modeling of fluxes in deltas. Prior modeling experience is not necessary, though it may be helpful. I am also always on the lookout for students interested in delta laboratory experiments.

The Department of Geosciences at Penn State no longer requires the GRE for graduate admissions. Applications to the graduate program are due December 15, but interested candidates are encouraged to reach out by email in advance of their application.

The Department of Geosciences is part of the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (https://www.ems.psu.edu/), which houses research programs spanning a broad range of Earth and planetary science. The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences relies on the expertise, sensitivity and commitment of an inclusive faculty, staff, and student body to enhance diversity, seek equity, and create a welcoming environment within the community. We are committed to nurturing a learning and working environment that respects differences in culture, age, gender, race, ethnicity, physical ability, sexual orientation, and religious affiliation.

I am currently on leave until October 19 and will respond to inquiries after my return.
