A PhD position in integrated planning and management of water-energy systems

A fully funded PhD position is available in my research group at the University of Toronto, Canada, with a planned start date of January 2026. The position focuses on developing simulation and optimization approaches for integrated planning and management of water-energy systems, with opportunities to work on both domestic (Canada) and international case studies.


Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. A strong background in Python programming is required. Experience in water resource and/or power systems modelling is considered an asset.

The position is based in the Department of Civil and Mineral Engineering and includes a competitive funding package (CAD 40,000 per year, including tuition fees).

Applicants must fulfil the following requirements:

  • Hold undergraduate and master’s degrees with GPA averages of at least B+ (3.3/4.0 or 78%).
  • For International degrees, use the International Degree Equivalencies Tool to find grade equivalencies.
