From CSDMS
Post-doc position in heat and solute transport through fault zones in crystalline bedrock (Hydrogeology)
Geological Survey of Finland, , Finland
Apply before: 16 December 2024

Dear all, a 3 years post-doc position is available at the Geological Survey of Finland. The role involves conducting heat and/or solute tracers in crystalline bedrock and their joint interpretation and inversion with other field and lab methods.

Apply here: https://valtiolle.fi/en/jobs/postdoctoral-researcher-hydrogeology-8399/

This position comes with substantial research funding and offers considerable independence. The project direction can remain fundamental — focusing on topics like mixing in fracture-matrix systems, effective flow and transport parameterization in hierarchically fractured rocks, or the effect of matrix permeability on overall flow and transport. Alternatively, it can be steered towards more applied topics such as geothermal applications, nuclear safety, or even somewhat emerging areas like emerging contaminants transport, in situ leaching, or enhanced hydrogen production.

Please share with appropriate or interested candidates. Any hydraulic tests, tracer tests (groundwater or surface water) experience as well as experiments interpretation and inversion experience is considered relevant.

For more information, please contact me at evgenii.kortunov@gtk.fi or visit https://valtiolle.fi/en/jobs/postdoctoral-researcher-hydrogeology-8399/. Application deadline is 16th of December.

Thank you for your assistance.

Kind regards,

Zhenia
