From CSDMS
Two 36-months "Patience Cowie Fellowships" at the University of Edinburgh
University of Edinburgh, , United Kingdom
Apply before: 9 May 2024

[[JOB bodytext::The School of GeoSciences at the University of Edinburgh is recruiting two “Patience Cowie Research Fellows”.

The deadline for application is the 9th May (UK time I assume).

The fellowships are fixed-term for 36 months: https://elxw.fa.em3.oraclecloud.com/hcmUI/CandidateExperience/en/sites/CX_1001/job/10132

Please note the strong Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) component: the application includes a “1-2 page cover letter that must include a short description of how you feel you would improve the diversity of researcher community and environment in the School specifically for the Patience Fellowship (which is for early-career postdoctoral researchers from under-represented backgrounds)”. The successful applicant is expected to contribute to efforts to support EDI in the School and in their discipline, through the appointment itself as well as initiatives they may develop during their fellowship.

Please also note that the call is extremely broad, as the School of GeoSciences is the largest grouping of geoscientists in the UK, with researchers spanning a wide range of topics from social science to experimental mineralogy, including climate and environmental science, and of course geomorphology! The panel reviewing the applications will likely be multidisciplinary.

If you have questions about the fellowship, feel free to contact scientists in the School working in your area.

All the best,

Mikael
