Apply before: 13 July 2023

We are looking for a postdoctoral scholar to join our group. Please share widely with anyone interested in combining remote sensing tools and mechanics of sediment transport to understand river mobility. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. The job ad is here: https://recruit.ap.ucsb.edu/JPF02540, and the details are also pasted below. Thank you!

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Surface Processes Group at UC Santa Barbara is looking to hire a postdoctoral scientist to join their team. The successful candidate will work on the global analysis of satellite imagery to characterize river mobility and understand how river mobility will respond to climate change and human interference. The successful candidate will develop and apply new/existing methods to extract binary maps of river water from satellite imagery (including NASA Landsat, ESA Sentinel, Planet Imagery), and apply the new analysis tools developed by our group (e.g., extracting bank-migration vector fields using particle image velocimetry) to characterize river migration patterns across the world. The successful candidate will also engage in outreach activities by developing short courses for high school and undergraduate students, and provide mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students within the team.

The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service as appropriate to the position.
