Please pass the following on to interested students. I am seeking a motivated PhD student to join the geomorphology research group at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. The student will participate in a five-year project focusing on quantifying abiotic and biotic drivers of chemical weathering and solute generation. The research is funded by an early career award from the Department of Energy’s Subsurface Biogeochemical Research program and field work will take place in the DOE East River Community Watershed near Crested Butte, Colorado: https://watershed.lbl.gov/. The student will receive training in cosmogenic nuclide, aqueous, and solid-phase geochemistry methods as well as in techniques for analyzing and modeling a diverse suite of spatial and timeseries datasets available for the East River. The student will have the opportunity to collaborate with UMass geochemistry faculty, post-docs, and scientists at DOE national labs. The ability to participate in field work during August 2020 is essential.
