16 assistant or associate professor positions at VU Amsterdam in natural hazards, climate change, and carbon and water cycles

The Faculty of Science of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) is creating 16 assistant/associate professor positions to strengthen its research and teaching in the fields of natural hazards and risks, climate change, water cycle, evolutionary adaptation, biodiversity, health and environment, carbon cycle and ecosystem services (https://workingat.vu.nl/vacancies). Two positions from this cluster hire could be of particular interest:


Assistant or Associate Professor in Natural Hazards (https://werkenbij.vu.nl/ad/assistant-associate-professor-in-natural-hazards/vrc274). Please note that applications from researchers focusing on other hazards that are not listed in the advert (e.g. landslides, debris flows, GLOFs) are also welcome.


Assistant or Associate Professor in Contemporary Carbon Cycle Processes (https://workingat.vu.nl/ad/assistant-associate-professor-in-contemporary-carbon-cycle-processes/fj3r1c). The applications deadline for both positions is the 31st of October 2022. The initial contract will have a duration that can range from 1.5 years – 5 years depending on the circumstances and preferences. After a positive evaluation planned at 18 months, the position will be made permanent, and the candidate will be offered a personal career track.
