IMDC is looking for an experienced hydrogeologist / bio-engineer or civil engineer with a specialisation in groundwater flow and modelling. We are looking for a dynamic person with innovation on their minds, who can both work in a project team as well as work independently, who is not afraid of taking initiatives and can lead a project team to execute studies. You will be engaged in studies and projects related to the sustainable use of natural water resources, such as climate change impact assessment and mitigation (droughts), nature development, both in a national and international context. You will be able to apply your relevant technical knowledge in a team of professionals. By linking your technical understanding of a problem to practical knowledge, you provide our clients with the best technical and economical solutions.

Your profile

  • You have a master in geology with a major in hydrogeology / bio-engineer or civil engineer with a specialization in groundwater flow, or equivalent by experience.
  • You have excellent communication and reporting skills in Dutch, and in English. French is a plus
  • You can apply your expertise in groundwater resources assessment, ecohydrology, geotechnics and water resources management by means of piezometric data analysis, data driven modelling and groundwater recharge flow modelling in saturated and unsaturated conditions.
  • You have experience with one or more groundwater flow modelling software packages (MODFLOW, Seawat, FEFLOW, …). But are flexible enough and interested to also take up modelling of river systems with rainfall run-off and open channel flow models. Both for modelling flow and water quality.
  • You have knowledge of pumping and/or remediation techniques, geotechnical and geophysical survey techniques.
  • You have an analytical mindset, are keen on analysing data, using your programming skills (Python, Matlab, R…) and using modelling tools.
  • You are pro-active and not afraid to take initiative to report and ask for feedback. You are a real problem solver, and always looking for ways to improve models and our way of working.
  • You have strong organisational and planning skills and contribute to the coordination of the project work. You help ensure that all processes run as efficiently and smoothly as possible.
  • Assignments abroad are a welcome break from your daily office work. You are prepared to work on international projects for short periods.
  • You show responsibility to meet planning, budget and technical requirements.
  • And last but not least: you want to use your skills to contribute to a more sustainable use of our natural water resources.
