From CSDMS
Hiring for an Engineer and a Hydrologist/Geomorphologist at Idaho Power
Idaho Power, Idaho, United States
Apply before: 18 April 2022

The River Engineering group within Idaho Power Company is looking to hiring for two permanent, full-time positions based in Boise, Idaho. Idaho Power is one of the most hydropower-intensive privately owned utilities in the country with 17 hydroelectric projects in the Snake River Basin. The River Engineering Group supports the water resource engineering needs associated with these projects and has developed expertise in various types of hydraulic modeling, multibeam sonar surveying, drone-based photogrammetry, traditional surveying, river restoration, and generally having fun on jetboats on the river. The jobs are a perfect mix of fieldwork and office analysis working on interesting projects often on the cutting edge of technology that are evolving through time. Every day is different and every year is better than the last. Current projects include a decades-long multimillion dollar river restoration project to reduce water temperatures on the Snake River, sediment sourcing and monitoring in Hells Canyon, the deepest gorge in North America, ensuring dam safety compliance through surveys and modeling, assisting in house biologists with habitat studies of sensitive aquatic species like white sturgeon, fall chinook salmon, Bull Trout, and the impossibly tiny Bliss Rapid Snail.

As if all that wasn’t enough, Boise is a great place to live, pay is competitive, and benefits are outstanding (a company matched 401k AND a pension).
