The University of Texas at Austin, Texas, United States
Start reviewing process: 22 March 2022

We are recruiting a Postdoc or a permanent Research Associate (RA) focusing on applications of AI/ML to coastal hydrology, flooding, or related hydrologic issues. Selection of Postdoc or Research Associate will be based on level of experience.

Job Description

  1. Performing multi-physics simulations (coastal hydrodynamics and hydro/hydraulic modeling)
  2. Synthesizing and downscaling hydrological and climate model outputs
  3. Developing and applying ML techniques for physics-based, surrogate modeling (examples include but not limited to forward & inverse modeling, domain adaptation, uncertainty quantification) using one or more state-of-the-art deep learning packages
  4. Evaluating and interpreting model outputs against observations
  5. Presenting results during regular group meetings and at professional society meetings

The position will be at the Bureau of Economic Geology, which is part of the Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin. The Bureau has a strong environmental program.
