From CSDMS
PhD opportunity at Colorado State University
Colorado State University, Colorado, United States
Start reviewing process: 31 October 2021

I am looking for a motivated Ph.D. student to join my research group at the Department of Geosciences at Colorado State University starting in the Fall of 2022. The student will be a part of a project to study the erosion, uplift, and geodynamic history of southern Italy as a part of a recently funded NSF project. The project will involve a combination of fieldwork, Quaternary geochronology (e.g., cosmogenic nuclides, luminescence dating), and numerical modeling, as well as education and outreach. More details on the project can be found here. For more information about my research group, please visit https://seanfgallen.wordpress.com/.

Qualifications: MS (preferred) or BS/BA degree in Geology or related discipline, excellent communication, writing, and quantitative skills, and desire to integrate multiple techniques into research. The project will involve generating new code, so experience with Matlab, Python, or another programming language or a strong motivation to learn programming is key.

Interested students, please get in touch with me for more information.

I strongly encourage members of underrepresented groups to apply. Details on the application process and deadline can be found here.

Best,
Sean
