PhD Position in Urban Hydrology and Geospatial Analysis

Dr. Hua Zhang at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is seeking a PhD student to study urban stormwater management, starting Spring/Summer 2022. The research project is funded by the Environmental Sustainability Program of the National Science Foundation, aiming to better understand the role of urban impervious areas in stormwater runoff processes using a combination of small aircraft systems, hydrologic modeling, and geospatial analysis (https://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=2050986&HistoricalAwards=false).


Applicants should have a master’s degree in civil and environmental engineering, geography, environmental science, computer science, or a related field. Preliminary knowledge of GIS and hydrology is desired. Skills with any of the following topics are not required but will be highly valued: (a) hydrologic or water quality models, (b) unmanned aircraft systems, (c) ArcGIS or ArcGIS Pro, (d) Python programming, and (e) Google Earth Engine or Planet Platform. Applications from Hispanic, women, or first-generation students are particularly welcome. This position will be fully funded, covering stipend, benefits, and tuition.
