The River Dynamics Laboratory at Simon Fraser University is currently seeking 3 post-doctoral fellows to work on a project entitled “Landslide Impact on Flow Dynamics, Fish Migration and Genetics of Fraser River Salmon”. Candidates will lead an effort to understand the impacts of the 2018 Big Bar Landslide on channel morphology, flow dynamics, fish migration, and the genetics of Fraser River Salmon. The landslide blocked the Fraser River to salmon passage, devastating salmon runs to the Northern Basin. These geomorphology positions are part of a larger cluster of post-doctoral fellows, research staff and graduate students investigating the impacts of landslides and flow dynamics on salmon migration and evolution.
We seek post-doctoral fellows to lead work on the following topics:
- The chronology of landslides in the Fraser Basin
- Linkages between bedrock canyon geometry and landslide susceptibility
- Flow dynamics in bedrock canyons
Please see attachment for further details and an executive summary of the project.
