We particularly seek a broad-based engineer or environmental scientist: fields of interest include (in no particular order), but are not limited to (1) river-coastal ecohydrology, (2) hydraulic and hydrological engineering, (3) hydroclimatology, (4) hydroinformatics and big data analytics, (5) river mechanics, (6) coastal geomorphology, (7) green infrastructure/watershed management and engineering, and (8) soft-soil geotechnical engineering. The Hubbell Chair is expected to lead a widely recognized, externally funded research program that will attract PhD-level graduate students and postdoctoral scholars of the highest caliber and will expand RCSE’s efforts to develop robust institutional research and training partnerships, regionally to globally, with other university, NGO, for-profit, and government organizations. Teaching duties are both at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Candidates must have an earned doctorate or terminal degree in a discipline relevant to the department and a strong record of scholarship, as evidenced by tenure in their field. Once identified, the chair holder will take a leadership role in continuing to attract the highest quality junior faculty in planned searches over the next several years, and will also play a key role in expanding RCSE’s portfolio of undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
