PhD positions for fall 2021

We have fully funded PhD positions available at Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey, USA. Positions are available for Fall 2021 intake.


The interest is in the three following topics:

  • Remote sensing and image processing with focus on river and lake ice mapping using optical and microwave satellites. Strong knowledge in remote sensing and image processing is required in addition to excellent coding skills in Python, Matlab, and/or R.
  • Hydrology and hydraulics to enhance the forecast of river discharge. Familiarity with river hydraulic models and flow routing especially in cold regions is preferable. Excellent coding skills in Python and/or experience with numerical models like WRF and WRF-Hydro are preferable.
  • Hydrometeorology with focus on flood forecasting in urban watersheds using hyper resolution models. Experience in remote sensing of precipitation products like MRMS is needed. Experience in hydrological modeling in urban area in addition to excellent coding skills.


Prospective students will work in the Davidson Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Marouane Temimi, Associate Professor in the Civil, Environmental, and Ocean Engineering Department at Stevens Institute of Technology.
