Lectureship in Earth Sciences

The Indiana University Department of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences is seeking a non-tenure track lecturer to begin August 2021. We seek a versatile lecturer who can teach broadly in the earth sciences at introductory level and advanced courses in one or more of the following areas:
  • earth materials (mineralogy or petrology)
  • economic geology
  • geophysics
  • structural geology
  • hydrogeology
  • environmental geology
  • field geology.

The standard teaching load is currently five courses per year. This is a regular, full-time faculty position. Rank and salary are dependent on qualifications and record. Strong candidates are expected to have an excellent teaching record; experience in teaching large classes is a plus. MS in an earth sciences field is required, PhD preferred.


Facilities in our department available for teaching include extensive mineralogy, petrology, sedimentology, and paleontology collections; petrologic and other kinds of microscopy; computational facilities; analytical geochemistry labs; and the IU Geologic Field Station in Montana.
