We are seeking a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor in sedimentology at Colorado College, starting in August 2021. Applications are open now through February 16th, 2021. The full position summary is available below:


The Department of Geology at Colorado College welcomes applications for a visiting faculty position for academic year 2021-22. Applicants must have completed or be scheduled to complete a Ph.D. in sedimentary geology, and must be able to demonstrate depth and breadth across the disciplines of earth sciences. The candidate must be able to teach an upper-level sedimentology/stratigraphy course and provide mentoring for undergraduates doing research in that field. Additional areas of expertise and active research could include geobiology or experimental and numerical modeling approaches, among others. The successful applicant should demonstrate an ability to utilize innovative teaching methods, illuminate connections between earth sciences and society, and maximize on inquiry-based teaching opportunities afforded by the Colorado College Block Plan. Experience with Rocky Mountain/western United States geology, and acquaintance with the geologic evolution of the Colorado region, are valued, as are the ability to employ instrumentation and/or analytical or modeling approaches as components of undergraduate courses. The position appointment will be as Visiting Assistant Professor. Current experience and rank of the candidate will be taken into account.
