From CSDMS
Several Ph.D. assistantships and one postdoctoral position in Hydrology
Vanderbilt University, Tennessee, United States
Start reviewing process: 6 November 2020

[[JOB bodytext::The Environmental Flow & Transport Lab (EFT Lab) within the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Vanderbilt University (https://my.vanderbilt.edu/eftl) is seeking applications for several Ph.D. assistantships and one postdoctoral scientist position. Our lab studies the hydrology, geomorphology, and biogeochemistry of landscapes and river systems, and their links with humans and ecosystems. The positions will contribute to our ongoing efforts to improve understanding of the fate and transport of nutrients, salts, and plastics along river corridors from local to continental scales. These efforts integrate field and laboratory experiments, data mining of large physical and biogeochemical datasets, and new physics-based models for transport in river networks. We anticipate a start date of August 2021 (Fall Semester) for the Ph.D. students and January 2021 for the postdoctoral scientist. We will give preference to applicants with a quantitative background and experience in programming and GIS. The successful candidates will join the Civil & Environmental Engineering Program (https://engineering.vanderbilt.edu/cee/) and are expected to collaborate with partners from multiple universities within the United States and Europe.

Interested applicants should email a CV, transcripts, and a one-page statement of past and present research goals to Dr. Jesus D. Gomez-Velez (jesus.gomezvelez@vanderbilt.edu).
