From CSDMS
MS and PhD positions at West Virginia University
West Virginia University, Virginia, United States
Apply before: 15 January 2021

Dear colleagues,

Please pass this on to any relevant folks— I am recruiting MS and PhD students to join the new Earth Surface Dynamics group in the Department of Geology and Geography at West Virginia University. Applications are due January 15th, 2021; positions start in fall 2021. I am interested in working with students on problems in fluvial and hillslope geomorphology, landscape evolution on timescales both geologic and human, and source-to-sink processes. I also have a variety of wonderful colleagues (https://www.geo.wvu.edu/faculty-and-staff/faculty) at WVU with Earth-surface-related interests. Funding is through a combination of teaching and research assistantships. Please find more information about the department here (https://www.geo.wvu.edu/students/graduate-students/geology-graduate-program) and my work here (http://www.charlieshobe.com/). The GRE is not required. Morgantown, WV is a nice college town situated on the beautiful—and geomorphically intriguing—Appalachian Plateau. Opportunities abound for hiking, mountain biking, paddling, climbing, etc. Those interested can email me (cshobe@gfz-potsdam.de and/or charles.shobe@mail.wvu.edu). It would be helpful to include a short CV and a brief description of potential research interests.

Best,
Charlie
