Start reviewing process: 10 February 2020

We are hoping to recruit a motivated PhD student with interests in soil geochemistry and geomorphology to join the Earth Surface Processes and Critical Zone Science Laboratory at Central Michigan University. The projects will include quantitative mineralogy, micro- to macro-scale characterization of bedrock fractures using microscopy and x-ray tomography, numerical modeling of landscape evolution, and quantification of denudation rates using cosmogenic radionuclides. Students with interests and experience in geochemical laboratory techniques, field work, and numerical modeling applications to soil geochemistry and geomorphology should contact Dr. Nicole West (nicole.west@cmich.edu). Required qualifications: M.S. degree in geoscience or a related field, strong communication skills, and the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
