The Zachry Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University is seeking applications for a full-time tenured or tenure track faculty position with a 9-month academic appointment, and the possibility of an additional summer appointment contingent upon need and availability of funds, beginning fall of 2020. Applicants will be considered for the faculty titles of assistant professor or associate professor in the broad area of environmental engineering. The successful candidate should demonstrate strong, fundamental knowledge in a core specialization of environmental engineering and the ability to apply experimental, analytical, data-science, or modeling methods to solve environmental engineering problems relevant to society. We are particularly interested in applicants capable of contributing to interdisciplinary teams and working in environmental engineering areas such as: research addressing the physical, chemical, and/or biological processes that govern the transport and transformation of environmental chemicals in natural or engineered systems, including detection, treatment, chemical cycling, or persistence of trace compounds or contaminants; environmental engineering to enhance community resilience and/or promote rapid recovery after disasters; or, research applying modern knowledge and tools to enhance sustainability of the built environment. Candidates applying at the assistant professor rank should demonstrate rigorous training in a core area of environmental engineering and strong potential to impact the field through original scholarship, excellent teaching and student mentoring, and service to the university and profession. Applicants at the associate professor rank must have an established research record demonstrating the ability to advance environmental engineering through the application of fundamental knowledge, evidence of excellence in teaching and student mentoring, and should demonstrate the potential to become a leader in their field. The successful applicants will be expected to teach at the graduate and undergraduate level; advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate research students; develop an independent, externally funded research program; participate in all aspects of the department’s activities; and serve the profession. Strong written and verbal communication skills are expected. Qualifications Applicants must have an earned doctoral degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, or a closely related engineering or science discipline at the time of the appointment.
