Abstract
This clinic provides a basic introduction to methods for translating concepts into differential equations, using conservation laws for mass, energy, and/or momentum. The format will be partly lecture and partly hands-on work with a Jupyter Notebook. Participants will need a laptop or table with a reasonably up-to-date web browser. To see a preview of an earlier version of this clinic, visit https://github.com/landlab/csdms_2022_landlab_clinics/blob/main/part1_art_of_modeling/notebooks/from_concept_to_math.ipynb
