In this position you will train neural networks to predict river discharge in basins affected by factors including fire and reservoirs. You will employ a data-heavy watershed/river network platform developed at LANL that eliminates most of the burdens related to data curation -- so you can focus on the "science" part of "data science!"
Los Alamos National Lab is a great place to further your academic and professional goals. Approximately half of the postdocs at LANL decide to continue their career here, and about a quarter move on to academic positions. LANL offers highly competitive salaries and great benefits packages. Living in the "Land of Enchantment" is also exciting, with tons of trails for hiking, mountaineering, climbing, and mountain biking as well as ski resorts all around. Nearby Santa Fe offers a unique cultural scene, while Los Alamos has a "small town" feel that many enjoy.
