Independent Research Fellowships @Loughborough University, UK
Loughborough University, , United Kingdom
Start reviewing process: 11 November 2023

Please pass on to possible candidates. We have 10+ Vice-Chancellor 2-year Early Career Independent Research Fellowships, which lead to a tenured permanent position.

I am happy to chat with any interested individuals.

We are looking for outstanding early career researchers who have recently completed their PhD to join Loughborough University to develop and establish an independent research career.

These prestigious, highly competitive 2-year Research Fellowships offer a rare opportunity for outstanding postdoctoral scholars to establish their own ambitious research agenda, develop their skills as independent researchers, and position themselves as future research leaders.

We value the contribution that postdoctoral researchers make to our research community and will provide a package of support, including a Loughborough University academic mentor, dedicated training, and specialist Fellowship advice. During the Vice-Chancellor Independent Research Fellowship, you will be expected to submit applications for externally funded Research Fellowships, to set you on a trajectory to accelerate your research career.

Your PhD (or other doctoral qualification) must have been awarded between 27 November 2020 and 27 November 2023. This means any corrections following your viva examination must have been completed to the examiners’ satisfaction by the closing date for applications.

The University is dedicated to supporting an equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment – to create better futures, together. The diverse backgrounds, characteristics and opinions within our community are our great strength and are key to our pursuit of delivering educational excellence, enterprise, research and professional services. We welcome applications from people from diverse backgrounds and minoritized groups as they are currently under-represented within our community. Applications from those who may wish to work part-time are also welcome.

Additionally, in light of the ongoing unrest and wars around the globe, we will prioritise at least one Vice-Chancellor Independent Research Fellowship for an academic at immediate risk from war or conflict (for example, the war in Ukraine or ongoing conflicts in Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon or Israel/Palestine).

Join us and together we can make a difference.
