[[Image:|300px|right|link=File:]]Theories have been proposed using idealized tracer age modeling for ocean ventilation, atmospheric circulation, soil, stream and groundwater flow. In this research we developing new models for the dynamic age of water in hydroecological systems. Approaches generally assume a steady flow regime and stationarity in the concentration (tracer) distribution function for age, although recent work shows that this is not a necessary assumption. In this paper a dynamic model for flow, concentration, and age for soil water is presented including the effect of macropore behavior on the relative age of recharge and transpired water. Several theoretical and practical issues are presented.
