Limited-Term Faculty: Applied Watershed Scientist

The School of Environmental Sciences, Simon Fraser University seeks applications for two-year Limited-Term faculty position in Applied Watershed Science. The appointment will commence August 1, 2019.

The successful candidate will be ideally a physical scientist interested in the practice of watershed restoration, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with restoration ecologists and practitioners. We seek highly motivated individuals in a broad range of fields related to performance and assessment of restoration, watershed management and restoration science. The successful candidate should have demonstrated research ability and potential for teaching excellence, ideally at both graduate and undergraduate levels.

This position will play a key role in supporting the Master of Science in Ecological Restoration (MER) program. The individual will be responsible for the teaching of at least two graduate courses, core to the MER program and supervision of MER Applied Research Projects. The individual will be expected to have an understanding of scientific method and an enthusiastic approach to supporting graduate student development and guiding critical insights into the process of scientific research and practice in ecological restoration.

The successful applicant will contribute to a diverse research and teaching community at SFU, joining a group of physical and biological scientists, spread across Biological Sciences, Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, Geography, and Resource and Environmental Management.

Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. at the time they apply for the position.
