the Department of Geosciences of the University of Padova offers a fully funded 3 years PhD scholarship on topics related with sediment connectivity, sediment transport and fluvial geomorphology. The candidate will be required to apply network scale sediment transport models and carry out field works using remote sensing techniques, such as drones, and collecting sediment transport data. This PhD opportunity is within a wider research project aiming at developing methods, models, and tools to improve our capacity to predict how river management measures and climatic changes at basin scale affect river connectivity, morphology and, in the end, ecological processes.
Interested candidates should have basic knowledge about fluvial geomorphology, and sediment transport, and some experience with geospatial modeling (e.g.; Matlab, Python, GIS etc…).
